Georgia Business Search

Georgia LLC lookup

Quick answer. Search the LLC’s legal name or control number in eCorp. Confirm the entity type is a limited liability company, then read status, registered agent, and whether annual registration is current. The lookup is free. It does not list members who were never named in a filed document.

Steps

  1. Search the legal name

Use Business Search. Include LLC if you are using exact match. If exact match fails, switch to contains and a distinctive word, then pick the row with the right control number.

  2. Check the type line

A Georgia LLC lookup is the entity-type field. A corporation that uses “company” in its name is still a corporation. File the annual registration that matches the type on the record, not the type you expected.

  3. Read the agent’s Georgia street address

The registered agent has to be findable at a Georgia street address. The agent block on the eCorp record is the one that matters, not an address on a website.

  4. See whether this year’s registration posted

Georgia LLCs file an annual registration between January 1 and April 1. The registration page has the fee table from the Secretary of State’s how-to guide.

Foreign LLCs

An LLC formed outside Georgia appears in this lookup after it gets a certificate of authority from the Corporations Division. Until then, a georgia business entity search will not show it. The home-state file can still be the place to read members or managers.

What you will not get from the free page

A certificate of existence, a certified copy, and a formal good-standing letter are orders. The search page points you to the home tab of eCorp for those orders. A printed search result is a convenience copy of the index.

Common mistakes

  • Using a county occupation-tax number as if it were a control number.
  • Assuming an administratively dissolved LLC can sign a contract because the name still appears in search. Appearance and status are different lines.
  • Updating the agent by emailing the Secretary of State. Agent changes are filings.

Questions

Can I search a Georgia LLC by the registered agent?

Yes. eCorp’s business search includes a registered-agent name field. Open each result if you need that company’s status.

How do I look up a Georgia LLC control number?

It is on the eCorp detail record and on filings the Division returned when the LLC was formed. You can also search the name and read the number off the result.

Is a georgia llc lookup the same database as a corporation search?

Yes. Both are the Corporations Division eCorp index. Filter with your eyes on the entity type.
